Bio
Alkyone is a Greek singer-songwriter born and raised in the mountains of northern Greece. Surrounded by rivers, forests, and wide skies, she grew up immersed in nature — a presence that continues to shape both the imagery and emotional landscape of her music.
She began studying classical piano at the age of six, yet it was songwriting that eventually became her true language. Influenced by her father’s deep love for folk music, she started exploring traditional melodies and weaving subtle folklore elements into her own compositions, a thread that gained wider attention through her reinterpretation of the beloved Greek song “Xenitemena Mou Poulia”. Today, her sound blends indie songwriting with cinematic textures and folk influences, creating music that feels both ethereal and grounded.
Singing in both English and Greek, Alkyone writes with strong poetic imagery, often drawing from memories of her hometown in the mountains while exploring themes of maturity, vulnerability, and our evolving relationship with nature and the world around us. At the heart of her work lies a quiet intention: to offer a sense of embrace and emotional refuge to those who listen.
She has performed across Europe at major concert halls and cultural institutions, and in 2023 collaborated with cinematographer Vincent Moon, appearing on La Blogothèque. Her debut album Exit Sign was released in 2023, with her second studio album, Small Philosophies, set for release in late spring 2026.
Her stage name, Alkyone, comes from a recurring dream in which she was a bird — a symbol of freedom,
hope, and gentle observation.
